I had the pleasure of knowing Bev for a short period of time while she was in Te Ata. We had many conversations about her life with her working career, children and how she lived on the Mountain and would be able to see far beyond. I always told her that she and Graeme reminded me of my Nana and Grandad which gave me great comfort as my grandparents live at the opposite end of the country.

My deepest condolences to the family. Rest peacefully, Bev.

    To Graeme family,
I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Bev’s passing.

I first worked with Bev at Waikato Hospital and then I was so thrilled that she came to work at Malcom House on River Road…..We had such a great team there at Malcolm House with Debra (awesome admin), Doreen (our amazing Māori Social Worker who was so patient with our te reo) Bev and myself as mental health nurse…..we were such a solid team and one year we won a Community Service award in Hamilton. Bev was so loved by the club members who came for clinical support, social times, learning skills from her and just belonging in a club. Bev started the mental health art exhibitions from Malcolm House and we even had exhibitions in Hamilton art galleries.
I have contacted Debra who is still working in mental health. Doreen is down at Otane, Hawkes Bay.
I remember last visiting Bev and Graeme up on the Pirongia hill farm with Doreen…now some years ago….and then we lost contact with moves etc from my end.
I know that Bev liked plants and flowers and I have her wonderful chinese pink coloured canna lily plant in my garden which still gives me great pleasure…and have taken it to my new garden when we moved to Glenview 3 years ago. Bev gave the canna to me from the Ohaupo Road farmlet garden when she and Graeme lived near the airport. Her canna plant is now extra treasured for me.
My condolences to Graeme and all of Bevs family.
    Sincerely Bryan Laycock.
