Although I was unable to attend in person, how special it was to be a part of Uncle Bruce’s funeral through the live stream. Very appreciative that this option was available.
I have many memories of Uncle Bruce, Aunty Heather and family growing up and through my adult years. I spent many a school holiday with my Grandmother in Hamilton and would often stay with them. Bruce was easy going and reminded me so much of my own Dad. How special those memories are.
My mother told me that Uncle Bruce lived with her and Dad in Rai Valley just after they were married. With Granddad passing away when Bruce was only a couple of months old he became very close to my father. When Bruce was 5 Dad moved to Rai Valley and married mum, Bruce pined for him and so he came to live with them. Mum and Dad would often take him to our family Bach at Whangarae or he would go out with my Grandfather on the launch when he did the mail run in the Croisilles. I’m sure this is where is love of fishing came from.
You will always be forever in our hearts xxx.
