    Dear Brucey Boy
Im sorry I cannot be there to say goodbye, but I have sent mum instead to send my love, I remember the first time I met you I was that little 16 year old in a place I shouldn’t have been in, back at the commercial hotel, the good ole commy days, yourself, Jeffrey, Benny Boy, Bizzo, the Twins, Mr Zeb and Johnny Boy, over the 17 years on and off I started seeing you more at your new local the RSA, with nearly the same group of guys, yourself, Benny Boy, The Twins and Jeffrey. Every musical Friday night, we would be at the table talking about how shit some of the bands were. And how much you try and leave but your roadie time keeps changing from 5mins too the next hour. You have taught me so much, like that game where guys wear white and throw a ball at each other to hit it with a long bat, I believe people call that cricket? And what the difference between a bowler and a pitcher is, turns out a bowler is not someone who goes ten pin bowling or play bowls, and a pitcher is not someone who takes photos. You also taught me things about life like I would never have to worry about getting prostate because I do not have a diddle, I only have a fanny. I told myself many times that I wanna be just like you when I grow up, a grumpy old person who sits in the corner talking shit. Every-time I show up at the RSA I would always double check with benny too see whose all there and your name was always the first said so of course I just had to come in, you would growl me every-time I was on my phone and would try put me off every-time I was playing an intense game of Pokemon Go, you would steal my vape or put your raffle rubbish into my bag. I would always give you a hug after trying to fight my way through everyone too get too you, and I would always yell out too you when I would see you on Sundays after my shit games of pool. Always made sure you got a hug hello and a hug goodbye even when you tried to sneak out, I would run up too the window and bang on it.
Well, Brucey mum said that she didn’t wanna read too much, as she wanted me to keep this short, sweet and simple, but I’m a bitch and wrote you a story. Its time for your roadie now Brucey, I am sending you my love and a hug goodbye all the way from Milford Sound, please give a hug to the others up there with you, Barry, Ken and Johnny Boy.
Rest in Love Brucey will see you in the next life.

Condolences to all of Bruce’s family. I had the immense pleasure to work with Bruce at PNS Te Awamutu. A nicer man with a great attitude to work and a wonderful way with customers I have yet to meet. I remember when my wife stayed up all night making him a birthday cake with Poppa Smurf on it. He loved it. I am so sorry i am unable to make the service today as I now live in Kaitaia and only found out on Thursday. I will be thinking of Bruce and all of you today. Paul and Tina Cox
